YES WE CAN
YOUR PICTURE GALLERY IS NOW LOADING... Barack Obama has had a busy schedule on his first full day in office as US president. The first public stop for the president and First Lady Michelle Obama was a service at Washington's National Cathedral. Then it was back to the White House, to the Oval Office, to get on with the business of being president. Vice-President Joe Biden read the oath of office as the new administration’s staff were sworn in at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building. The president then signed several executive orders. Among these were rules to institute curbs on lobbying and a pay freeze for senior White House staff. The president and his wife opened the White House to members of the public, finding time to greet visitors in the Blue Room. Hours earlier, children from the primary school that Mr Obama attended in Jakarta, Indonesia, in the 1960s, sang in a ceremony to mark his inauguration. |
